✖️FILLER DISSOLVING TIMES✖️
.
Personally, I believe it’s so important to know the rheology of the product I’m injecting with. I choose the fillers I inject with for specific reasons – the degree of cross-linking, the aesthetic result it gives on my actual patients, and how it degrades with filler dissolver, just to name a few.
.
Before my comment section and my DMs get flooded asked what brands of filler this study used, please understand that by LAW, in Australia, I cannot mention brand names. I’m posting this study to inform you that fillers are made different and can respond differently to the dissolver.
.
This study took 3 different brands of non-permanent filler and mixed them with a green fluorescent cell linker dye in addition to a certain dissolver. The fluorescent gel was then placed in a larger volume of serum-free keratinocytes medium and were placed on a time-lapse videomicroscopy workstation and was recorded for 20hrs. The fluorescence was measured every 10mins and 6 consecutive measurements were averaged to obtain a robust value for each full hour.
.
The results showed one brand degraded at 5hrs, and reached significance (p=0.03) at 14hrs. Another degraded at 7hrs, and reached significance (p=0.04) at 13hrs. The third filler had no significant degradation-curves, hence no effect of the dissolver was observed for another filler.
.
There are previous studies are in line with the results of this study with the first two brands. However, the third brand has controversial results and is suggested it’s cross-linking and contents may have an effect on resistance to the dissolver and future studies can be conducted.
.
In short, this is why you sometimes need several dissolving sessions. Just like you may need several filler sessions to build the lips, for example, you may also need to have several dissolving sessions to get rid of it.
